Complex Mental Health Network AGM:
COVID 19– A Spotlight on Our Shared Vulnerability and What This Means for Mental Health

  • Selma Ebrahim, Chair Complex Mental Health Network, ACP-UK

  • September, 2020

Complex Mental Health Network AGM:

Wednesday 7th October 10.30 – 12.00

‘COVID 19– A spotlight on our shared vulnerability and what this means for mental health.’ Isabel Clarke and Iris Benson

A mental health crisis is predicted in the wake of the pandemic. Look at it another way: the pandemic has shed a spotlight on our common vulnerability. Labelling some people as mentally ill and others as well can obscure this.

The webinar will focus on the opportunities this perspective offers to value the things really important to us, and to face uncertainty with acceptance and awareness in the present.

Information about the presenters:

Isabel Clarke is a consultant clinical psychologist with over 25 years’ experience working as a therapist in the NHS with people with complex problems.  She has developed a trans-diagnostic, trauma-informed, formulation based approach, Comprehend, Cope and Connect (CCC), which has been applied in acute services and beyond, enabling individuals to be understood at an emotional, felt sense, level and teams to work psychologically.   Psychosis and spirituality, and the psychology of spirituality are further areas of specialism.

Iris Benson, MBE, HSJ Patient Leader, is an expert by experience peer worker and public speaker. She is a service user and carer representative and an AHP improvement lead in Merseycare. She shares her lived experience to help people understand the devastating impact childhood trauma has on mental health and focuses on using her experience to support people and foster hope.
