Duncan Law shares his vision for upcoming inaugural event for CYP network

Duncan Law has been invited by the Association of Clinical Psychologists, UK (ACP-UK) to take on the role of interim lead for the ‘children, young people and families network’.  The inaugural meeting of the new network will be hosted at the Anna Freud Centre Kantor Centre of Excellence 4-8 Rodney Street London N1 9JH on Thursday 25th July 2019  from 10:30 to 16:00.  The meeting is open to all clinical psychologists (whether they are full ACP-UK members yet, or not) who share the ambition to apply sound psychological principles to maintain and improve the emotional well-being and mental health of children and young people. The meeting will begin to shape the agenda for the how the network collaborates with other organisations, disciplines and institutions and set the vision for the future. The initial meeting will be co-designed with the input of young advisors

Duncan said: “I want the network to adopt a wide vision of where applied psychology can improve the lives of children: at home, schools, youth clubs, sport & and in the wider community.  I also hope we hold a broad view of applied psychology interventions: individual and family therapy and wider systemic interventions, whole school and whole community approaches. That we see clinical psychologists having a role with individuals as well as influencing policy and political systems.  I hope this inaugural event will be an important step in empowering a network of ambitious and creative psychologists who work with children and young people where they are at, wherever they are.”
