Over the last number of years there has been increased recognition of the significant psychological and neuropsychological needs that occur post stroke.  Despite this, there remains a considerable shortfall in the provision of Clinical(Neuro)psychology services across the stroke care pathway in Northern Ireland. This briefing paper was written by the Regional Stroke Clinical Psychology Special Interest Group for Northern Ireland, with a view to informing the Regional Stroke Network about the current status of service provision.  It provides an overview of the key strategic drivers and recommendations for psychological care in stroke, with specific focus on the shortfalls in service provision, as well as recommendations for service improvement and development in Northern Ireland.
