Che Rosebert, ACP-UK Director, Reports on Meeting with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Chief Executive Marc Seale

  • December, 2018

Mike Wang and I enjoyed an incredibly warm welcome on Wednesday 12th December from HCPC’s Chief Executive Marc Seale and Stakeholder Communications Officer Alex Urquhart. There will be lots of opportunities to work with our professional regulator to ensure we work to the highest of professional standards. ACP-UK are developing a CPD App that will assist members when they are audited. HCPC regulate approximately 370,000 professionals and did you know that approximately 75% of our fees are used to investigate complaints? Key themes in the most serious complaints are professional isolation and burnout. Marc spoke about a prevention agenda, so professionals are not vulnerable to acting outside codes of conduct. ACP-UK are keen to support all clinical psychologists to prevent unethical practice. We were pleased to learn that HCPC staff are offered psychological support as it’s difficult for everyone involved when they are going through this process. HCPC have recently updated their website, they have several useful videos about professional standards and the day after we met ACP-UK was named as a professional body for Practitioner Psychologist. Quick work indeed.
