Professor Mike Wang, Chair, ACP-UK, will provide a brief history of his clinical and research work in this area, spanning 30 years of working in clinical health and neuropsychology and his close collaboration with anaesthetists. Mike was awarded the Humphry Davy Medal by the Royal College of Anaesthetists in recognition of his work in this area. He will give an overview of his work in this field and will explain some of the key issues including the nature of general anaesthesia and how consciousness is possible. He will also describe his approach to trauma-focused psychological treatment in these cases. This webinar is hosted by the Clinical Health Psychology Network and will be of interest to all those working in clinical health psychology, with anyone who has experienced surgery or an ICU admission, as well as those who work with people who have experienced medical-related trauma.
