Webinar Notes

A fascinating webinar on cross-cultural clinical practice, with a particular focus on the therapeutic alliance and how this is fostered and maintained. It was presented by Dr Tori Snell, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and Dr Numan Ali, Consultant Psychiatrist, who met in Jordan 2006. They have worked closely on mental health projects in Jordan and Iraq, including setting up a psychosocial centre for war affected people and using therapeutic writing with child survivors of war and armed conflict. Their clinical partnership continues online to address needs arising from Dr Numan’s Baghdad-based practice and through their work with the Arab Journal of Psychiatry. Both talk in detail about their rich experiences of working together, and of learning in hard but rewarding ways.
