Lunch time CYPF network meetings: We’re pulling together a series of webinars and more informal lunchtime conversations and planning for this to start in the next couple of months. If there is a topic you think we should cover, please do let us know. The lunchtime conversations will be very informal. There will be someone keeping an eye on time and starting off discussion but no formal presentation or teaching. They are a chance for you to bring and talk about your experiences. The first one was in March and based around Clinical Psychologists working alongside, with and in schools to support children and young people. The next one is the 28th April 2022 12 – 1pm talking about increase in referrals and diagnosis of LD/ASD/ADHD and how we respond lead by Natalie Briant and Georgie Barnes.

Here is the link to join the meeting on Zoom:

In May we will be thinking about the forest school approach lead by Sam Walker. Future ideas for the meeting are around the impact of covid and sharing the different ways we work.

Twitter – the ACP has a Twitter account and the CYPF can have its own twitter handle. Is anyone familiar with Twitter and would like to take this on? This is an option for the network and the ACP has guidelines to support you in the role.

CPD survey
– As part of her role with the CYPF network Sam Hartley produced the questionnaire and compiled the responses from the recent CPD questionnaire. The ACP CYPF Network learning and development survey headlines are that you would like

  • Live and/or recorded webinar preferred
  • Workshop style preferred
  • Fairly even between disseminating national guidance, research into practice and specific areas of practice
  • Fairly even between expert and costed versus within-group and in-kind [so could have a mix?]
  • During working hours preferred
  • Email distribution list preferred for communications
  • Selected high scoring topics:
    • Trauma informed practice with CYPF
    • CYPF service leadership
    • Working relationally with young people and families
    • Research and service evaluation in CYPF services
    • Culturally-informed practice in CYPF services
  • Additional ideas for network functions:
    • peer supervision, ID, NHS/social care links, clinical health, gender identity

Our next role is to develop a program that fulfils these ideas for our members. As ever, we can’t do this without support from you. If you can provide a lunchtime meeting idea, lead a topic or help with providing government responses as they arise, we would be grateful.

Free training – We have been contacted by Cerebral who are offering the following training At Cerebral we are addressing the challenging mental health needs of Children and Young People (CYP) and the wider adult population, as a result of the pandemic. We are NHS providers of digital mental health service who specialise in engaging hard to reach communities and individuals. For CYP, we use innovative techniques such as livestreaming for engagement on mental health topics to help CYP to THRIVE, together with gaming and nudge behavioural techniques to improve therapeutic outcomes (Getting Advice, Getting Help and Getting More Help). We are holding a free CPD accredited webinar on 27th May on our approach. ACP members are directed to contact Cerebral directly.
