Loneliness on Our Radar

Home / Member Networks / Psychology of Ageing / Loneliness on Our Radar

With the Campaign to End Loneliness preceding COVID, the challenges for some older people have only become bigger. The factors affecting the experience of loneliness are multiple and local organisations are working hard to continue to reach out, stay connected and connect older people who otherwise might spend a lot of time alone and experience loneliness. We want to start exploring what clinical psychology can do to understand the evidence base for loneliness in ageing better, to investigate what interventions are most effective and how those people who are likely to be referred to secondary services and clinical psychologist are best supported. We will start with a literature review and build on that.

If you are interested in this area of work, please do get in touch with our working party.

We want to hear from you all

Being a very ‘young’ network, we have been asking our members about their views and ideas of how they would like the network to move forward. With likely shared interest amongst other ACP members in other networks around loneliness, we want to find out from you all what areas you are interested in and whether there is any room for collaboration, be that in CPD events, responding to consultations or writing briefing papers. Make your voice heard.
